American Jobs Act would make the unemployed a protected class

This is actually quite interesting.  Under the proposal, you couldn't be turned away from a job simply because you're unemployed.  Lots of employers actually advertise that they only want to interview someone who's already employed.  And others won't admit it, but they also prefer that you currently have a job.  Why?  It's not entirely clear.  If you've only been unemployed a month, it's not like you've someone suddenly become less qualified for the job.

This is good.  And get ready for the Republicans to flip out, because God forbid we try to help people get jobs.

Oh, and if you don't think this is a real problem, check out this search I just did at Careerbuilder.com - there are 112 results for just the phrase "must be currently employed" - I'm sure there are other ways to say it that I did not find.
