One could argue that Europe was already in the merde with Merkozy (Merkel and Sarkozy)since austerity has been (predictably) dragging down the European economies. If bringing an end to austerity equals le mot de Cambronne, then I will gladly take a bite out of that merde sandwich because the other option is much worse.
