NBC: New docs show WH used RomneyCare as their template for ObamaCare

I think the White House should own the word ObamaCare, embrace it outright, and start telling people what ObamaCare does.  1m new kids have insurance?  ObamaCare.  Can't be denied or charged usury rates?  ObamaCare.  Want to move back to your home state to take care of mom and dad, and NOT be charged ten times as much for your new insurance?  ObamaCare.

(That last one takes some explaining.  Health insurance in the US is sold on a state by state basis.  If you move to a new state, and your work for yourself, you have to get new insurance.  Even if it's the same company, they drop you and you start anew.  And if you have any pre-existing conditions, they'll either charge you 5x or 10x your previous premiums or deny you outright.  Under "ObamaCare," they can't turn you away for pre-existing conditions, nor can they charge you outrageous premiums.  In a very real way, Barack Obama made it okay for kids across America to move back home to take care of mom and dad in their old age.  That's something the Democrats never told you about (don't even get me started on the abysmal job Democrats did messaging on HCR).)

Michael Isikoff, NBC News:

Newly obtained White House records provide fresh details on how senior Obama administration officials used Mitt Romney’s landmark health-care law in Massachusetts as a model for the new federal law, including recruiting some of Romney’s own health care advisers and experts to help craft the act now derided by Republicans as “Obamacare.”

The records, gleaned from White House visitor logs reviewed by NBC News, show that senior White House officials had a dozen meetings in 2009 with three health-care advisers and experts who helped shape the health care reform law signed by Romney in 2006, when the Republican presidential candidate was governor of Massachusetts. One of those meetings, on July 20, 2009, was in the Oval Office and presided over by President Barack Obama, the records show.
