The trial date in the federal case against California's Prop. 8 has been set for January 11, 2010. Also, the federal judge precluded advocacy groups from intervening.
This is the case brought by superstar lawyers David Boies and Ted Olson working with the American Foundation for Equal Rights. Olson, who served as George W. Bush's Solicitor General, is profiled in today's NY Times. Some of Olson's right wing friends aren't happy that he's taken this case, but he doesn't seem to mind at all.
