Reflecting increasing imposition of strict religious rule, Islamic fundamentalists publicly lashed a woman in Somalia yesterday, punishing her for allegedly selling $1.00 worth of cannabis.
The woman, who throughout the beating insisted she was innocent, was flogged alongside five other men at the Yassin Square in Mogadishu in front of several hundred people.The most mind boggling thing, though, is this paragraph, practically an aside in the article:
