Republicans are in jeopardy of losing their grip on Congress in November. With less than four months to the midterm elections, the latest Associated Press-Ipsos poll found that Americans by an almost 3-to-1 margin hold the GOP-controlled Congress in low regard and profess a desire to see Democrats wrest control after a dozen years of Republican rule.I know Chris in Paris wrote earlier that he doesn't think the Dems will take back the House or Senate, but I disagree. Yes, we've had a few too many elections steal defeat from the jaws of the victor y, but I've been around long enough (sadly) to have seen both Republicans and Democrats lament that they'd never win again (you should have seen the Republicans from the inside in 1992, it was the "end of the world"). The cycle of loser-dom goes back and forth.
Further complicating the GOP outlook to turn things around is a solid percentage of liberals, moderates and even conservatives who say they'll vote Democratic. The party out of power also holds the edge among persuadable voters, a prospect that doesn't bode well for the Republicans.
The Republicans are in serious trouble. I've got a post I'm putting up a little later with an example of why I have that sense in my gut. Does it prove we'll win in November? No. But the stars are aligning exactly how we'd want them to in order to have a victory. And that means we keep pounding and pounding and pounding them, no matter how long it takes, no matter how much we might fear defeat, until we win. And in the end, we will.
