It's amazing the obstacles all three have overcome to win, truly capturing the American spirit. LeMond bounced back after missing 2 prime riding years due to an almost fatal hunting accident, Armstrong defied the odds of cancer (he had a 1% or 2% chance of surviving) and Landis a bad hip that will be surgically replaced soon.
