So, he is pushing, fighting, screaming and begging for an earlier trial. The top Criminal Court in Texas gave him one this week:
DeLay has been seeking a quick resolution of the money laundering and conspiracy charges. He had to temporarily give up his majority leader's post after he was indicted on Sept. 28 for allegedly funneling corporate money to Texas legislative candidates in violation of state law. Some House Republicans have called for new leadership elections next month if the case isn't resolved by then. The hoops the GOP leadership is going through to save DeLay are almost unbelievable. They are actually postponing the start of Congress for him. That actually gives another new meaning to the term "delay" which is now also "the GOP accommodation of corrupt and indicted leaders."
None of this fast action matters once DeLay is found guilty....and then, there's still the Abramoff case.
