This morning's "Today" show trumpeted the news and you can be certain now Brown is toast. The lead NYT editorial blasts the cronyism at FEMA, its emphasis on pr instead of rescuing the endangered and points out how Clinton had turned it into an effective and widely praised agency. It's no accident Bush put incompetent liars like Brown in charge. He hates FEMA and any government agency -- Dept of Education, Social Security -- that helps the little guy.
But President Bush chose to make FEMA a dumping ground for unqualified cronies - a sure sign that he wanted to hasten the degradation of an agency that conservative Republicans have long considered an evil of big government.And as a side note, the NYT editorial includes a link to a Chicago Tribune article on FEMA's top hacks.
