Hilarious. After laying blame literally everywhere, Brownie's interview with the NYT ends like this:
Mr. Brown acknowledged that he had been criticized for not ordering a complete evacuation or calling in federal troops sooner. But he said the storm made it hard to communicate and assess the situation. That's his DEFENSE! It's really hard to figure out what's going on during a hurricane. And Brownie has no idea how utterly stupid that argument is. Well, with an explanation like that, there's clearly no need to set up an independent commission and figure out what mistakes were made. Feel safer?
"Until you have been there," he said, "you don't realize it is the middle of a hurricane."
