Ameritrade has somehow "lost" a backup tape with personal information of 200,000 files of current and former clients. The tape may have included Social Security details, which pretty much means that it will be shocking as hell if they were not there. Working in the IT industry, I've heard these horror stories for years so I'm glad to hear that they are finally making it to the news.
So individuals will be paying a heavy price if their personal data is manipulated but when are the corporates who are holding this information be held accountable for lost data?
