Let's play... find the black person

| Reddit | Tumblr | Digg | FARK

UPDATE: The local media has picked up on the story. Apparently he's a really good cop, but for the fact he's a flaming bigot. Wonder how he'd handle a hate crime case?

Oh. You lose! That's right, the only black cop you'll find in that photo is the one I digitally inserted. (To be fair, the guy in the third row from the top, second from the right, could be black or Latino, though he could just as easily be Italian (pronounced Eye-talian). Regardless, the sheriff's letter speaks for itself.)

This is a photo of the Marshall County, Alabama Sheriff Department. ItAffectsYou.org recently discovered that the Sheriff has a very nice open letter on the county's Web site talking about how gloriously wonderful the 40s and 50s were in Alabama, when men were men, women were women, and homosexuals were an abomination.

Oh, so not kidding.

His letter got me wondering how he feels about blacks, since he thinks the 40s and 50s in Alabama were such a pristine time. So if you scroll down, you see that nice picture of the Sheriff Department staff. Not a lot of black people in that photo, though I dare say I saw a few abominations.

I'm sensing the need for a Justice Dept investigation. Maybe we can get one of those homosexual activist lawyers there to help us? :-)

Here are some snippets from the letter:

I am proud to be an American and that I was fortunate enough to be born in Alabama. The state that has its motto "We dare defend our rights". I was raised in era, the 1940's as a child and the 1950's as a teenager, which I remember with great affection.

During this era, love of God, family, and country abounded. Men were men and women were women and there was no mistaking which was which. Both were proud of their individual roles. Homosexuality was very queer and a despicable act… an abomination.
(Can you say: Trent Lott? Sure, I knew you could.)

Feel free to give Sheriff Mac Holcomb a piece of your mind. Oh, and be sure to ask him why there aren't more people of color in the photo.

Sheriff: Mac Holcomb
