"Now What?", Planned Parenthood's pro-choice blog, takes on Karen Hughes.
Um, Karen, what in the world was that? Asked about abortion, you invoke 9/11, the terrorist networks, AND a particular religious perspective? I suspect at 1600 Pennsylvania, they view this as some sort of 'perfect storm,' but out here in the real world, we view that as offensive, crude, and in extremely bad taste. At a minimum Hughes is implying that those who marched on Sunday or support the cause(s) represented Sunday do not value life. She seems to imply that if you oppose the administration's policies, you are not far from being a terrorist yourself. If you're not with us, you're against us. Nice philosophy, Mr. Uniter.
For her part, Hughes refuses to apologize for linking abortion rights with terrorism, instead shooting back the very helpful and insightful rejoinder that her point is being 'grossly distorted.' I think we know distorted when we see it, and honey, that interview was about as distorted as it gets.
